Retirement

Youth is happy because it has the ability to see beauty. Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty, never grows old.

Franz Kafka

So, you’ve worked hard your whole life, you’ve provided for your family, & you’ve experienced a lifetime of successes and failures. Despite the level of your accomplishments, your identity is closely tied to your life journey, and all your hard work has brought you to this point, retirement.

Some people look forward to this day with excitement, releasing the life they enjoyed before and embarking on a new journey; while others, need to grieve the release of something they identified with their entire lives, and struggle to find a new purpose. Often for them, clinging to what was, doesn’t make room for what could be next. Changing your perspective can offer an opportunity to reinvent yourself and enjoy the freedom of new adventures.

Employ a lesson from a child; be curious, dream big and mold those dreams into your life, without fears of judgment or failure. Take this magical time to reignite old passions, learn a skill you never had time for in your prior life, or share your wisdom and knowledge through mentoring others. Enhancing and sharing your untapped gifts will be a contribution to all that are lucky enough to receive them, but also bring self-awareness to your unlimited value.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • what have you done in your life that was so effortless that you didn’t realize the passage of time?
  • what have you done in your life that you so immersed yourself in that you felt no fatigue?
  • what do you like to talk about?
  • what do you like to read?
  • what gets you excited?

Let’s have some fun, and together discover all you can imagine for a well deserved life filled with excitement and passion.
